WEEK 2 Privacy Settings

With new technologies,  it's becoming more and more difficult in today's world for the average citizen to protect his or her personal information.  By merely typing my name into Google,  I can find my parent's names, the high school I attended, my home town, my age, and almost everything I've tweeted.  It's all out there, for the world to access.  Nearly everything I, or others, do on the web is public.

For this reason,  I aim to make my site's privacy policy easily manageable and, more importantly, easily understood.  To begin with,  I wouldn't make access to the site solely for members.  Those without an account can access general beauty articles, comments, and tips from other users, but cannot access personalized beauty information.  Upon registering,  a user must enter his or her email address, login and password.  Other than that, any information users wish to give is optional.

After registering, users will be presented with a series of "personalization options," asking them the following:

Hair Color
Hair Texture (Curly, Wavy, Straight)
Hair Thickness
Eye Color
Skin Tone
Height
Weight
Body Type (Petite, Pear Shaped, Hourglass, etc.)
Face Shape (Oval, Square, Round, Heart)
Age

All of these questions will be optional, but in answering them using will be permitted access to more and more tips, articles, and comments, specially designed for themselves, which will encourage users to give their information.  They will be able to remain completely anonymous.  The information will also enable advertisers to target specific clients.

I believe this system will not jeopardize member's rights to privacy, but will still allow them to have a personal experience online.
